Lilly España, in Alcobendas, Spain, hosted 24 Georgia Tech undergraduate students and two faculty, as part of the College of Sciences’ Barcelona Fall study abroad program.

During the visit on Sept. 27, 2019, students learned about the history, mission, accomplishments, and goals of this Spanish operation of Eli Lilly & Company, one of the world’s top 10 pharmaceutical companies by global market share. Students chatted with Lilly local scientists about a typical work day. They toured manufacturing and packaging facilities, as well as laboratories.

Participating students were biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, and engineering majors. They were encouraged to explore internships or cooperative work positions at Lilly.

The visit was made possible by Feifei Zhang, who graduated from Georgia Tech with M.S. (2009) and Ph.D. (2014) degrees in chemistry. Zhang is a research chemist at Elanco, a former subsidiary of Eli Lilly & Company.
