Wenting Shi portrait

Graduate student Wenting Shi, a researcher in the laboratory of Prof. M.G. Finn, has been honored as a member of the 2024 Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Scholars Recognition Program by the American Chemical Society. This program celebrates the accomplishments of graduate students and postdocs who are leaders in mentorship, research safety, and DEI initiatives. Wenting was specifically honored for her leadership in mentoring.

 

After graduating from Virginia Tech summa cum laude with dual B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry, Wenting joined the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Finn lab in 2020. Her research focuses on the development of hydrogels for the programmed release of functional biomolecules. This work led her to co-found a biotechnology startup company, OZ-Link Technologies, which focuses on programmable release of protein therapeutics.
