Title:
Discovery of Sustainable Catalysts using Individualized High-Throughput Experimentation (I-HTE)
Abstract:
The production of clean energy, the synthesis of plastics, drugs, agrochemicals, and fragrances, and the capture of volatile organic compounds from the atmosphere increasingly relies on the development of sustainable chemistry. Catalysis is one strategic way to enable sustainable methods and yet, many catalytic reactions in industry and research laboratories still rely on expensive precious metals or reagents and harsh reaction conditions. To efficiently explore small molecule and inexpensive and earth abundant metal catalysts under green conditions high-throughput experimentation (HTE) will be essential. This talk will discuss state-of-the-art HTE strategies and using these methods for the discovery of new analytical techniques, Fe and Ni photocatalyzed transformations, and the capture of environmental pollutants.
