Research

Professor Chen’s research interests are inherently cross-disciplinary, spanning mechanical engineering, chemistry, and materials science. His group focuses on the design and development of materials and devices for electrochemical energy storage, as well as functional and structural metals and alloys. The group’s technical expertise includes the development and application of advanced in situ characterization techniques for energy storage devices, high-throughput and autonomous synthesis of functional materials, AI/ML driven materials design, and novel synthesis strategies for nanostructured materials.
