Emily Saccuzzo, a graduate from the laboratory of Prof. Raquel Lieberman, has been honored as a member of the 2024 Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Scholars Recognition Program by the American Chemical Society. This program celebrates the accomplishments of graduate students and postdocs who are leaders in mentorship, research safety, and DEI initiatives. Emily was specifically honored for her leadership in mentoring.

 

Emily graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Chemistry in 2014 and joined the Lieberman lab that summer. Emily's Ph.D. research focused on the use of NMR to characterize myocilin OLF unfolding as it relates to glaucoma. Emily is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory using ssNMR to study biomineralization of calcium carbonate.
