Research

Prof. Kim’s research group is interested in using the tools of organic chemistry to develop new reactions that further applications in organic synthesis, chemical biology, and materials science. The group take a bottom-up approach to molecular challenges in each of these fields. Basic chemical research – exploration of novel synthetic strategies, discovery of new molecular reactivity, and synthesis of complex molecular architectures – is foundational to our efforts in accessing useful molecules and reactions for the study and manipulation of biologically relevant systems. We have projects in bioorthogonal reaction development, chemoproteomics-based target discovery, drug discovery, and functionally adaptive biomaterials.
